Answer: A police verification is required for issuance of passport. If you have held a passport, ever, then it will be a reissue of passport. Otherwise, it will be a fresh passport application. Police verification process begins after the applicant has visited the PSK (passport seva kendra) with all the necessary documents. It may take anywhere between 30 to 45 days. In the case of government servants who have submitted I-D proofs and minors, it is a somewhat different.


Q2: My name is Radhika Krishnan, from Delhi. We are planning to apply for a passport for our minor daughter who is only 10 years of age. So, Is Aadhar card mandatory for Minor Passport?

Q3: Hi, my name is Rajesh Pradhan. I live in Thane. There’s a slight problem with my passport. My Passport has been damaged, can I continue to use this passport?

Answer:No! Not suggested to travel on damaged passport. Apply for reissue of passport.


Q4: My name is Rakesh Singh, from Gorakhpur. My question is “How can I Change my photo on the passport? I am now 25 years old and have a moustache. When I got my first passport I was only 18, with no Moustache.

Answer: Answer: You will have to do a “reissue of passport”.


Q5:I am Jaspinder Narulla now living in Delhi since 2 months. We have recently shifted from Punjab. My address has changed since I have shifted to Delhi. So, Do I need to update my Passport?

Answer: A change in address is a major thing, and, it needs to be updated on the passport. Apply for “reissue of passport”. Through this process, you will receive a new passport with a new number and booklet. Check Documents needed for “Re-issue of passport”.


I am Rakesh, from Gorakhpur. My question is” When should I renew my passport?”

Answer:Renew your passport approximately1 year before it expires.


Q7:I am Srinivas Rao and I am from Hyderabad. My Deceased family member still have a valid passport in his name, Should I return it in to be cancelled?
Answer:Return it to the nearest Indian passport office or consular mission. You can also have it cancelled and then returned to you. It should be supported with a copy of the Certificate of Death.


Q8:My name is Sunita Singh. I stay in Delhi. I want to know, “How long is a passport valid and is it true that it needs to have at least 6 months of validity remaining?”
Answer: An Indian passport is normally valid for 10 years. You cannot renew the passport more than one year before the expiration date. Not necessary that it needs to have at least 6 months of validity remaining.


Q9: I am Lokesh. I am from Mumbai. I have this question, please advise me. I’m renewing my passport, so will I get my old passport back?
Answer: When a new passport is issued, the old passport will be cancelled and returned to the applicant.


Q10:My name is Santosh, from Malad, Mumbai. I have adopted a child. I want to apply for his passport what are documents required?
