• Pay the fee

• Date of birth corrections or parent name changes needing zonal officer review: 6 to 10 weeks.
• Cases flagged for Chief Health Officer review: 10 to 16 weeks or longer.

These timelines assume complete documents at the first submission. A single missing document resets the clock.

When It Actually Worked — Real Cases

Case 1: A family in Whitefield whose daughter's name was entered as "Sneha" in the certificate but all school records showed "Sneha K." — the initial was missing. Affidavit, school TC, and ID proof. Correction approved in 4 weeks through the online portal.

Case 2: A gentleman in Rajajinagar whose birth year was recorded as 1975 instead of 1976, affecting his PF superannuation date. The hospital was a private nursing home that had closed in 1995 — no discharge records available.
