What is the Blue Aadhaar card?
The Blue Aadhaar, also known as Baal Aadhaar, is issued to children under 5 years. It includes only demographic details and a photograph, without collecting biometric data. The card is printed in blue to make it distinct from regular Aadhaar cards.
Is biometric data collected for children below 5 years?

When should biometric updates be done for children in Karnataka?
Biometric updates are mandatory at two ages:
After the child turns 5 years old
Again at 15 years old

Are biometric updates free of cost for children?
Yes. Biometric updates are free between ages 5–7 and 15–17. A one-year fee waiver from October 1, 2025, also applies. Outside these windows, an update costs about ₹125.
